Professional supervision can be a game-changer. I learned this for myself when I started attending regular sessions in 2020. Today, I want to pass on that assistance to my paramedic peers and colleagues in allied fields such as emergency medicine, nursing, fire and rescue, and police.
With Trellis Professional Supervision, I aim to give my clients a safe space to offload and objectively explore work-related issues. With a shared frame of reference and a selection of evidence-based models, I provide support, perspective, and confidentiality. I want to be a sounding board, so that clients can leave my office feeling lighter, unburdened, seen, and heard.
I also offer debriefing services. When it comes to debriefing, it is my experience that it doesn't happen often enough. Organisational pressures, workplace culture, job volume, and a lack of suitably trained facilitators may all contribute to teams falling short of debriefing goals and procedures. TPS provides an outsourcing option. Whether you are an individual seeking proven methods and a place to reflect, a group wanting to discuss a shared experience, or an organisational leader seeking to harness external expertise, I can provide tailored appointment opportunities for everyone.
Finally, in the future, pet therapy will also play a part in my vision for my clients. When human interaction becomes too demanding, it is absolutely okay to seek a time-out with a furry companion.
Trellis Professional Supervision was born out of a realisation that healthcare workers and frontline emergency personnel in New Zealand have unmet needs when it comes to mental health maintenance. Crisis support is one thing. Keeping a level head and a balanced mood on a month-to-month basis is entirely another. Family and friends should not have to fill that support role alone.
