My practice relies on a broad spectrum of peer-reviewed models and techniques, including but not limited to:
Active listening
Strengths-based approach
Reflective learning model
Coping theory
Sense of community theory
Adaptive detachment strategies
Pet therapy
Hot debriefs
Cold debriefs
My focus is on professional supervision and debriefing rather than counselling and psychological support. If I see a need for greater support than what I can offer alone, I will refer clients to additional professional care. We will then work together to create a collaborative plan.
My approach to professional supervision is first and foremost to listen to my clients' needs and intentions and then help them explore those issues. I ask challenging questions designed to broaden and grow my clients' understanding of themselves and their practice. If desired, I also provide advice, feedback, and guidance.
Ultimately, session topics are self-selected by you and may cover any number of areas, including goals, morale, generalised stress and burnout, specific incidents, coping strategies, interpersonal conflict, work-life balance, and more.Â
